The Corner Store Opens in SoHo the new classic American restaurant from the team behind Catch Hospitality Group: Tilman Fertitta, Mark Birnbaum, and Eugene Remm, opens in SoHo at 475 West Broadway at the corner of Houston Street and West Broadway. Designed by Rockwell Group, the warm space has a nostalgic feel, inspired by old-school New York dining, and boasts a 13-seat bar, ample booth and banquette seating with wood details, and an enclosed patio with lush greenery.
The Corner Store’s menu is a nostalgic nod to classic New York City dining, starting with Spinach & Artichoke; Fried Olives & Peppers stuffed with ‘nduja and goat cheese and served with aioli, only at the bar; Wagyu Pastrami Reuben and Five Cheese Pizza Rolls that pay homage to the childhood snack. A focus of the menu is the Steak section, including a Wagyu French Dip with house-baked bread, prime rib, au jus, and horseradish; Steak Au Poivre with Allen Brothers NY Strip; and Disco Steak Frites, an elevated rendition of the classic diner-style disco fries. French fries and sauces are also available a la carte, including sea salted Classic French fries or Dirty French fries drizzled with au poivre and peppercorn aioli, with sauces including McOli Sauce, a ‘secret’ sauce perfect for dipping; Horseradish Aioli; Avocado Ranch; and Au Poivre, with all sauces in their individual, branded glass jars.
Desserts include a rotating Soft Service Ice Cream Sundae with flavors like Cracker Jack, Black Forest Cake, and Leggo My Eggo Maple; Vanilla Soft Serve Ice Cream topped with rainbow sprinkles and a Maraschino cherry in a Corner Store-branded baseball hat cup; and Apple Hand Pie with honeycrisp and granny smith apples and a flakey buttery shortbread crust, served with a dixie cup of vanilla ice cream with a spiced caramel swirl, round out the menu.
The Corner Store’s beverage program is centered around the martini, ranging from elevated versions of the classics to innovative variations. The Corner Store will offer tableside martini service, with drinks poured directly from the restaurant’s custom-branded glass bottles, each precisely diluted and perfectly chilled. Highlights include Oli’s Dirty Martini, and Tuxedo No 2. Martini, Vesper Martini; Tomato Martini, and Sour Cream & Onion Martini. The Corner Store will also serve a menu of Cocktails prepared with unique twists using a variety of culinary techniques including infusion, cryovac, sous vide, milk washing, and oil washing. The Cocktail menu includes The Garden, Negroni, Lieutenant Crunch Milk Punch; Pornstar Royale, and Paloma.
Upon entering, guests are greeted by a grand 13-seat bar, featuring a green onyx bar top and elegantly fluted wood panels painted in green. Behind the bar, an antique mirror serves as the backdrop, adorned with drawings of Oli–short for Olive–The Corner Store’s signature ‘martini man’ character. A candy-striped upholstered booth divides the space between the bar and the first of the two dining areas. The middle dining room features chevron wood floors, two types of banquette seating with plush green velvet and green leather upholstery in diamond tufting, and box-patterned oak tabletops which add a vintage feel. The main dining room is lined with tufted leather banquettes and custom lamps with linen shades. Two skylights are draped with large striped curtains and framed with high gloss wood, and the walls are lined with vintage red patterned panels and a curated collection of vintage New York City photography. Off the dining room is a 50-seat enclosed glass patio that can be opened in the warmer months, with custom armchairs, branded bistro enamel table tops and lush greenery.
